Field Trip to Cumbria and South-West Scotland. ECOVAST UK (in association with Civilscape and Europa Nostra UK).
Message from organisers:
This field trip is prompted by the recent creation of Civilscape, the European grouping of non-government organisations (NGOs) committed to promoting the active use of the European Landscape Convention. ECOVAST, which supported the writing of the Convention in the 1990s, is a founder member of Civilscape. The National Trust, and its sister organisation the National Trust for Scotland, are among the most powerful NGOs in Europe, in terms of their land ownership and membership. They are pioneers in addressing the challenge of managing landscapes in face of climate change, pressures on farmers, and concerns for sustainability. We are privileged to meet their land managers, in the company of people from our sister organisations Civilscape and Europa Nostra.
