The Living Landscape conference takes place in Florence and is a joint initiative of Uniscape and Landscape Europe. It has been organised to mark the 10th anniversary of the European Landscape Convention (the Florence Convention).

The 10th anniversary of the Florence Convention is an occasion to discuss how landscape science is leading integrated research in a rapidly changing spatial environment. The conference will consider how science has contributed to the implementation of the European Landscape Convention (ELC). Issues regarding the future of European landscape will also be discussed.

During the conference interdisciplinary contributions explicitly referring to the principles of the ELC will be presented in four interactive sessions. The four themes chosen are:
•    perception studies;
•    landscape identification and typology;
•    effects of policy development on landscape;
•    and participation studies.

The aim of the conference is to discuss cutting-edge research results at the crossroads of sciences and humanities, design and empiricism.

Papers will be prepared in advance, and selected as a basis for the debate in the conference. The results of the debate will be presented to the political audience present for the Florence+10 celebrations on 20th October.
