Exploration of the Relationship Between Locality Foods and Landscape Character

By Land Use Consultants in association with Carol Trewin and Laura Mason (August 2006)
Countryside Agency Report

The objectives of this two-phase study are to:

  • explore the relationship between locality foods and landscape character and consider the affiliation between foods and the area from which they derive;
  • identify locality foods and food products closely linked with a specific landscape which have the potential to gain protected food name status;
  • publicise and promulgate the results of the study to the public, partners and relevant policy makers.

The results of this research will then be used to encourage and facilitate the producers of locality foods that are bringing landscape benefits to apply for EU protected food name status.
